I have been looking for a place to buy MDF wood that is not primed for my speaker box that I'm going to build. I have checked both Lowes and Home Depot with no luck.

Any help would be great

 

Why do you want wood that is not primed?

That is odd that neither Lowes nor Home Depot have regular MDF??

 

I got the MDF I used for my Sub boxes at Home Depot.

 

I don't really see needing a piece of white MDF that is going to get carpet.

How big of a sheet of MDF did you get from Home Depot?

 

It should be on the end with all the rest of the lumber. Not saying yours has it for sure but I know for a fact that both our Lowes and Home Depot have it where I live. Its in 4x8 sheets back with the lumber and plywood.

 

yup, we've got it here at both...in the back with the chipboard and particle board

 

My home depot didn't have it but Home Depot Pro did so I picked up a sheet for 20.96

 

yup good ole 3/4" 4x8 MDF is where its at.

the ONLY other stuff to look at would be 1" voidfree birch or other voidefree hardwood. However that stuff is 50+bucks per sheet!

 

How should I have HD cut it some I can get it home. I'm building a box for a 10w3 JL sub, the size is 18w X 11h X 9d

 

You can't fit a full sheet in a 3rd gen? I know it will fit in my 2nd gen.

Keep in mind that a 'full sheet' is 49" wide and 96-97" long. Its only 42" from sidewall to sidewall on the cargo area of a 2nd gen. (The opening ranges from 38" wide down to 34 pending where you measure it) btw the wheel wells is exactly 34.5" and the depth from the tailgate to the rear seat when up right is only 47"...

The only way to 'fit' such a sheet in one would be to leave the tailgate down, the rear seats foled, the board angled, and a good 20" of that board hanging off of the end of the tailgate. To me that doesnt fit...

this is why I just hop in the '94 K3500 fullsize diesel and charge over to HD and throw the sheet in the bed...fits like a charm.

TO the poster - determine what your cuts will be to make that box, plan everything out. Then on paper arrange them so that the 4'x8' sheet can be cut into 'primals' 3 pieces that all will fit inisde and allow you to cut your sheets from the 'primals.' Give yourself a good 2" margin becuase HD SUCKS at cutting accurately...
