2nd GEN sliders on a 3rd GEN

Can my 2nd Gen sliders fit on a 3rd Gen (1997) 4Runner?

Wheres RB when ya need him?
Try asking All Pro... not all sliders mount in the same locations so you can't always compare them with others. Just my .02

Are you hinting your gonna buy a 3rd gen?

yeah, they will, they just need to be ground down, much easier than going than putting 3rd gen sliders on a 2nd gen :pat:

Actually....I already bought one. A '97 SR5, Standard Trans w/ an E-Locker. Awesome deal, 8Gs with 130k on the ODO. I was gonna sell my 2nd Gen as is, but now I'm gonna strip it down sell it stock...probably with the lift on since I'm too lazy to take 'em off.

I'll post pics of the new 4R when I get the chance.

Thanks Sean, I'll torch them off my 2nd Gen and use them on my new rig.

the difference is that they may be slightly too short and you're going to have to grind them so they are completely even, the front outrigger on a 2nd gen slider goes forward too much and is at a 13 degree slant. The third generation frame does not bend inward, so it's an easy mod. Have fun with your grinder

Yep, the mounting brackets are even on the 3rd gens, not on the 2nd gens. Also the 3rd gens have more distance from the frame out to the body pinchweld than the 2nd gens, si the inner bar won't line up there. The overall width might be about right.

I did the 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen slider remove install and it was a huge amount of work.

Save yourself some time and just cut the legs off and start over. The outter hoop is the same, or close at least.

This is a job I won't take again, unless it's billed as actual time.
