Great oil pressure at start up.

When I start in the morning I have great oil pressure, but after my 91 4runner w/3.0 warms up it seems to have low oil pressure? I use Quaker state 5w30.

Any thoughts or is this just normal

This is normal...
As the oil heats up, it also thins out and thus the oil pump will make the most pressure when the oil is thicker (ie when cold). If you put in 10w30 I bet you will see the pressure go up slightly when warm.

yeah, this has been brought up a bit ...

my oil pressure is low at operating temp, too. nothing to worry about as long as there are no obvious leaks.
