I'm looking to get a ARB Bull bar bumper without the winch option for my 1990 4 runner. I understand that being a heavy bumper I'll loose a little of the lift in the the front. So I was thinking instead of going direct to the ARB bumper first I'd install coilovers on the front to compensate for the lose I will have once the ARB bumper is installed.

With this said I have three questions regarding this "path" to the ARB bumper. First, am I crazy to do it this way or would this be the "right" way to do it? Second, For a decent pair of coilovers(I don't need the best but I don't want the bottom of the line either)how much $$ am I looking at? Third, WITH the ARB bull bar and the coiled over will the truck ride stiffer. i currently have Rancho 9000s all the way around and Downey coils in the rear.

More like $$$$ since putting coilovers on your 2nd gen will require custom mounts.

What is providing the lift for you in the front now? Have you looked into the ball joint spacers?

 

downey torsion bar w/ some balljoint spacers and some decent shocks are what you want.

 

Could you recommend a better shock?
