Why Firestik vs other antennas?

Isn't the Firestik for trailers or semi's that don't have a metal ground plane?
Seems like a 4Runner has a lot of metal...

While talking with a local radio shop they recommended getting a regular steel/wire antenna (with the coil at the bottom) over a fiberglass Firestik for better reception.

Firestick makes a no ground plane antenna commonly used in applications where there is little or no metal,IE: fiberglass motorhomes/trailers etc..

A base loaded or coil at the bottom antenna works ok as does the standard firestick. They are both prevalent due to their affordabillity and availabillity.

The best mobile CB antenna I have ever used is a Predator 10K with a stainless steel 108" whip coming in a close second place.

I'll gladly answer any questions you might have if youll shoot me an e mail.
