its not all that difficult...just look under there and you'll see some bolts holding them on. take them out. dont let the running board fall on your head.

Thanks. I guess I thought it might be more involved.

removing them is easy but you will definitely need to buy front flaps or else your 4runner will look a little weird. the front part of the running boards have a connector piece that connects the RB w/ the rear part of the front fender flare.

you might be able to find a front flap on ebay, but they are few and far between. try posting a WTB in the classifieds too. or worse comes to worse, buy it from an online parts dealer

Does anyone happen to know what the Toyota part #s would be for the correct mud flaps for a 96 SR5? I saw a thread that listed these #s for a slightly later 4Runner.

well, you can get some generic ones at autozone or pepboys or wherever for a lot cheaper than OEM flaps

If you previously wheel'ed your truck, then the undersides of the body/running boards will be caked with mud, so wear some googles and keep your mouth closed because lots of dirt will fall on you!

def wash the underside first...just pay attention to how everything goes together and use your head and it should take no more than 20 min.
