Sudden Bucking and Popping out of Gear

This has been happening more frequently and it's time to do something about it before it gets any worse, I just don't know what exactly it is in the clutch system that's causing it.

I'll be driving and the truck will suddenly jerk forward and the resume as normal. Sometimes I'll be driving and the transmission will pop out of gear, usually in 1st gear. Othertimes the gears will grind and not go in at all, it almost always grinds when going into reverse.

I was told the truck had a new clutch put in about a year and a half ago.

What would cause this?

the fact that it pops out of gear is definitely a trans problem, is the shifter sloppy?, as for the grinding it could be the clutch, does it always grind when going to reverse, when i got my '84 the clutch was shot and wouldn't disengage all the way, i think that the pressure plate was warped and always was dragging on the disk, sounds like you have two problems

and maybe try bleeding the clutch and make sure that the floor mat is not under the clutch pedal, that will cause it not to release all the way and could be one of your problems.....

your shifter seat and bushing could be bad...i had almost the same problem. my bushing was nothing but little bits and pieces when i checked it. you have to the the shifter off to check it.

Mine did that and the shifter seat bushing and the bushing on the tip of the shifter fixed it. Under 20 bucks - gotta like that.

I replaced the seat and the bushing already a couple months ago, and it's not the floor mat either.

Looks like I'm in for some $$$ spending
