shocks for prerunner

I have a 2001 prerunner xcab. Anyone have suggestions on replacement shocks for it because the suspension sucks. I don't take it off-roading and it is stock, except for the deck plate. I just want something that feels a little safer for street use rather than the bilstines. Thanks in advance

That's what OME's are!!
Will the plush ones be sofer than the stock? I feel that the truck bounces around a little too much. For example if I'm taking a turn and let go of the wheel the truck sways from side to side, feels a little dangerouse. Thanks for the response.

side to side? sounds like it may be a combination of a bunch of bushings bad...I'd check with the anti swaybar bushings and then go from there checking every bushing on the suspension. Not saying shocks can't cause it either...but the OME's are a great shock I have heard. Wish I had the money to get 4 of them...

OMEs aren't bad, but if you don't have the money then get some Bilstein HD replacement shocks. And I agree with callmej75 about replacing the swaybar bushings, makes a big difference. Wheelersoffroad.com also carries the bushings.

I can highly recommend the MX-6 from ProComp too. Just put them on mine and the difference is amazing. Being able to adjust them is great.

Anybody have experience with tough country shocks? I saw a smoking deal, but I wasn't too sure about them. Anyone?

ive only so far replaced my front sway bar bushing and it makes a hell of a lot of difference. I took the old ones out, and they were worn to peices. Despite the fact that i have a lot of understeer(until home depot decides to replenish thier stock) my junk handles very well. I used the energy suspension gresable bushings

I'll try the bushings first. That's what my bro suggested also. Thanks for the advice.

Anyone know what the bushings would cost for a 01 Tacoma extended cab 4x4? Also where is the best place to get them and how do you know when you need them? Mike

Same price as any other '96-'04 Taco, all the suspensions are the same.

I would roughtly guess $20-$30 for a set of front and rear bushings.

I found some on JC Whittney. However, I don't know what size to purchase for my 01 prerunner extracab v-6. Anyone know which one?
