Does anyone have any good pictures of the Conferr Roof Rack Hilift Bracket? I have seen the pictures on their website but I cant tell much from them.

I have a set at home. If you don't get any other pics by tonight, I take some more for ya. Anything specific you want to know?

 

In the picture on the ConFerr website it dosent look like there is a bolt holding the jack down. It looks like the jack is just sitting in a cradle. On most HiLift mounts there are bolts that go through the jack holes to secure the jack. Also Because I keep my vehicle in a garage I do not have clearance for the HiLift brackets so I am going to have to take them on and off when I go off roading. I want to see how it is fastened to the rack. Thanks!!!

 

It fastens to the rack with 2 brackets on either side of the rack frame. There are 2 bolts for each of the brackets. There is also one bolt through each bracket to hold the jack in place.

 

Is it easy to take the bracket on and off? I will have to do this every time i go off roading.

 

Not too bad-4 bolts and 4 nuts. Takes just a couple of minutes.

 

Basically what Dragr1 said. You can see in the 1st photo below that there are two bolt holes on the mounting base of each bracket (mine has an extra on the bottom cause I drilled it). The second photo shows the holes to mount the jack. Each bracket weighs about 4 pounds and the dimensions are about 3" x 9". Any other questions, let me know.

 

I have the highlift brackets. Never used them. It did not come with bolts for the highlift. Contacted Conferr and those clowns said that you have to supply them yourself.
I put the highlift bracket on my conferr rack and didn't like how it sat above the top of rack.
Instead I mounted the highlift inside the rack.

I used the 4XRAC mounts in the rack to hold the jack

 

I had a similar issue with my Yakima rack, but it dealt more with the cost of the Hi-lift brackets that Yakima sells ($70 !!!!!). I also didn't like how the hilift stuck so far up from the rack when mounted.

So I ended up running to my local Sportsmans Whse and picking up a regular hilift mount ($15) and fabricated my own attachment for the Yak rack out of some plate steel, bolts, and paint I had lying around the house. Now the hilift sits nice and low, horizontally, within my rack.

OK. Picture time !

Pic #1 is a side view of the mount. It shows the plates of steel that sandwich the rack rails. The white pieces are some 1/2" plastic spacers that I put in there to keep everything nice and stable. Sorry for the fuzzy pic.

Pic #2 is a top view. It shows the mount on the plates of steel. Everything has been bolted onto\through the steel using 1/4"x1" stainless steel bolts & nuts.

Final pic is what the mounts look like with the hilift mounted. And waddya know, it's also in the garage !

Here's my current setup today.
I sold the Conferr and went back to my Yakima. One reason was weight and rattle. Also because I had quite a few accessories for the Yakima already. The Yakima was longer and allowed me to store all my families camping gear on the rack rather than in the cargo.

One thing I didn't like about the Yakima rack was how the rack sat so high above the roof line using the Yakima Railriders. Instead I used the Conferr rail brackets. Drilled holes into the roundbar. Then bolted the brackets on the roundbar. This dropped the rack 3 1/2 inches closer to the roof line.

 

Oh ya.

The hi-Lift jack bracket I used is made by SleeOffroad. It is specifically made to work with the roundbar.

Thanks for all the great pictures. This gives me more to think about. smr4runner, when you say it is specifically made t work with the round bar, what do you mean. Which round bar? your close up pictures are fantastic. do you have on from farther away that would give me context?

Looking at the second pic in his post two up from here, it appears that Smr4runner doesn't have a factory roof rack. Therefore, he needed to use the Yakima crossrails that attach to his raingutter. The Yakima roof rack then attached to these crossrails.

Checking Slee's web page, they appear to make an attachment for the hilift that attaches directly to the crossrails. If I had to go with the Yakima crosrsails, I probably wouldn't have fabbed my own and just bought these from Slee.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the Slee mount will fit our 4th Gen roof rack.

The roundbars are what Yakima refers to as their crossbars.
I will check when I get home from work to see what I have for ya.

It probably won't if you have the Loadwarrior roof rack as there would be no room to mount the Slee's Hi-Lift bracket.
However without the rack, the Slee Hi-Lift bracket will fit the OEM crossbar if you use the correct Yakima Mighty-Mounts.

I've seen people use the Slee Hi-Lift bracket on Thule's square crossbars as well using Thule's version of the Mighty Mounts.

 

Ahhh.... Got it. So no Loadwarrior and the Slee hilift brakets should fit the factory crossbars. Good to know for any 4th Genner looking to put a hilift on their factory roof racks.
