My local parts store had a kit made by Sunpro that contained a bunch of adapters. It was in their gauge section and IIRC cost me around $10. The kit had what I needed to install both an oil press and water temp gauge in my '86 truck.

I'm not sure it's metric at all... The oil sensor threading on the '95.5 - '04 Tacomas' 2.4 / 2.7 / 3.4 L engines is 1/8" BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper), which is close but not identical to 1/8" NPT. BSPT, being a UK standard, was widely used throughout Asia for piping applications. Unfortunately, I don't have any references on 80's-era engines ...

FWIW: This thread over at CascadeCrawlers.com:

http://www.cascadecrawlers.com/forum...=2768.msg18581

... indicates the 1/8" BSPT threading was used on 80's-era 4-cylinders for the engine block sensor / sender fittings.

... And this thread at miata.net:

http://forum.miata.net/cgi-bin/ultim...c;f=6;t=020521

... also indicates both (a) Japanese manufacturers generally use(d) 1/8" BSPT and (b) specifically - the Toyota 22R sender uses this threading...
