my turn!! . I got a visit from DHL courtesy of CBIfab

Tuesday a bright yellow truck pulled up, and as I have been conditioned likes Pavlov's (SP?) dogs.... I began to drool profusly... low and behold there's a 100lb chunk of steel left on my door step!

rattle canned and installed

1/2" thick mounting plates and heavy duty hardware, side support

spare carrier with plate & hi-lift bracket

Steve at CBIfab was very quick in the turn around time (told me 4 to 5 weeks, took 3) quality product. and was a complete bolt on with perfect fit, no bending, grinding or drilling required. just paint and bolt in.
And I opted for a removable spare carrier. I can tuck my 33 under there still, off road I want the clearance of it being high.. Plus the benifit of the hi lift mount!

Damn it. Now I want a visit from someone. Oh well - should be getting a visit soon with a high end immobilizer, although I'm sure you guys won't care for pics of some wires, a transponder, an LED light, and a box.

Wow, really cool.

What paint did you use? Did you use a clear coat?

I used an auto grade metal primer (red) and a rust resistant black spray I picked up at autozone (can't remember the name... darn paint fumes!).... no clear coat.. easy to touch up!

Call Steve at CBI you'd be surprised at how reasonable he is. His quality is first rate too.. He also has a 1st gen himself (the white one on his website)

No labor needed to install it. once I had it painted it took less than 30 minutes to put it on by myself.. 12 bolts for the bumper. the carrier a little longer.

I like your bumper a lot. I have never heard of CBI. I had a local guy fab up mine--very similar to yours, but welded on

Just out of curiousity - he welded a hitch right into that bumper by the looks of it - what capacity does that hitch have? Would it be similar to a class 2 (3500 pounds?).

For legal reasons we have to say the hitch is NOT for towing, but we have many customers that pull trailers with thier bumpers,.........at thier own risk of course

Now tell me this - as an option as part of that bumper, why couldn't you offer a built in hitch that goes under the body (looks like there might be enough clearance to go underneath the tailgate judging by the above pics) and bolts on to the frame somehow? You already got the receiver welded on to your bumper, why not put the rest so you can make a legal claim about your bumpers towing capacity and thus a selling point (at least an option anyways)?

Or you can get a a-market hitch and build your bumper around that.

Getting a rating would be a great selling point but from what I understand it is too costly and time consuming for us to pursue at this point in the game

Here's a pic of one of our bumpers integrated into the class III rec. hitch......when a guy has to have the rating
