I bought my 4runner a few months ago it has 210,000 miles on it about... i heard yota engines go forever like 500,000 miles or more if you treat them right.. anyways its a 1990 SR5 4Runner automatic trany.. i think the engines 3vz ? its a v6 3.0 EFI...

It seems to run fine except the codes coming up for the knock sensor the check engine light comes on somtimes but i think my kicker subwoofer system makes it go off somtimes I am not really sure..

finaly to the question... at 210K should i be worried about rebuilding my engine anytime soon or what do i check.. im not loaded with money im only 17 so i dont wanna just replace the engine for fun... seeing that westbay auto and schucks told me it would be about $3000 for a new v6... dang for that price i could buy a 454 for my 77 camaro..

 

Well, two things come into play here, 1) has it had the Headgasket recall done on it? and 2) When was the last tune up done?

You should be at the very least be looking into changing to oil and what not. Possibly the plugs depending how old they are.

You're right Yotas will go forever, if you treat em right. You're also right about it not being cheap. I'm 19 and although my truck is the 5 speed 22re I've got about 7 grand into it at the moment.

 

Alright thanks , I am not really sure about the recall if it hasnt been done would they still do it? And I also have a nice chrome pushbar for the front but no brackets... where do i go abotu getting them? either that or does somone wanna buy it.. ill get pictures later i guess
