diesel in 85, 0r 86-89 4runner?

diesel in 85, 0r 86-89 4runner?
Hello-
Has anyone converted their 4runner to a diesel? If so could you help me with some info. 1. Where did you purchase your engine? 2. Did you find an engine that would fit into the 4runner w/out major mods? ( I believe I have found one, a Toyota 2l-t diesel) These year 85-89 4runner's all run G52 5-speed transmissions right? (besides automatics) Can you register these converted trucks in CA?

After combing through the site better I see that many ppl. have considered and a few have followed through with it!! Good news!! Anybody registered, smogged one in CA? Is it even a possibility? I am looking into buying a 4runner cheap w/ a blown engine and dropping a diesel in. Ideally 85 straight axle, 5 speed do they have a W56 or G52 tranny?
