updates on my truck build
sky's chevy rear ubolt flip kit.
I painted it blue as well.
Now I need to get around to the chevy spring swap.
Bud Built banana shackles for running the rear springs up front. I did the same paint scheme.
I am probably gonna do a hybrid 88 2wd leaf pack for the front.
I have to order the spring hanger for the rear and the shackle kit so I will likely order that from sky as well.
My 2000 2wd chevy silverado 63" leaf springs
Painted up my IFS steering box for the hysteer install
Thrush cherry bomb

Nice paint scheme...better paint that junk well as it takes a lot of clanking around putting it on. I did a lot of touch-up afterwards...and those nuts, might want to paint them too...and anything just plain old carbon steel...it'll rust too and quickly when exposed to the elements. I had to go back and paint a lot of things...I still have to paint the Marlin steering arms...surface rust crap...

Good Lookin' Shad. You are making some serious progress. I'm not nutz about the paint scheme. Reminds me too much of Calweenie.
You'll like Buds' Bannana shackles. They really keep the front end in check with the rear in height.
Keep up the good work,

The box isn't new it's a used box. I got for free from a friend of mine it needed some cleaning so I wire brushed and sanded the hell out of it and painted it.
The threads on the end of the pitman arm part that attaches to the steering rod are messed up.
I guess I could cut off the old one no need in keeping it..

Yup I know it's going to all have to be touched back up after it's installed.

He thinks I know alot about auto parts and wants me to work there.
Also he put me in the computer for a 10% discount so now everytime I come in I get $ off parts.
I ordered 4 Rancho 5000 RS5012 shocks last night 3 should be here today.
Also I am going down to Ford this afternoon for the F250 front shock mounts as well.

Ordered up a hidden hitch winch mount plate for my magnum 9000 winch today.
I bought it from JC Whitney for $42.99 online it was like $51 shipped.
I also got my front licence plate today pretty trick:

Here's the ford f250 shock mounts:

Rancho 5012 shocks:
collapsed

extended

My buddy can't squeeze me in untill next week to get the spring hangers and stuff welded on so I have to wait to get it done.

I went to work on my truck today at a different place but thier welder is broken.
The cable had a big cut in it. I cleaned all the contacts in the welder and taped up the welding cable so it fixed it for them sorta but it needs a new gun. They offered it to me for $200. It's a Lincoln Electric 155 welder so it's 220V. The Gun with the wire is $152 that's all it needs and it should work pretty good. I dunno should I go for this deal?

Yeah I got my truck running good today.
I went back to a stock carb and got rid of that crappy weber 32/36 POS.
I swear the adapter plates were warped as hell after sealing it 6 times I got sick of it and scrapped it.
I had some problems with the stock carb at first it wouldn't stay idling but once you got going it worked ok but it would stall at lights and stuff.
I found I had a blown engine fuse it was causing my choke not to work. I replaced the fuse and it idled fine I tweaked the warm idle a little and after that and runs great.
The aisin carb I got was from a 85 truck with 70,000 miles so it has a little life left in it.
Anyways happy for now I still need to do some tweaking to it but I have 3x the power the crappy weber was giving me.
Well I'm off tomorrow to do some more work to my truck.

Well we attempted to install he hysteer today. Well things took a little longer than I would have liked.
I had to throw in the towel for today. The biggest pita was grinding off the old torque arm bracket and drilling the holes for the IFS box. We also welded a reenforcement plate on the backside of the frame
The easiest parts were removing the push pull box and the old steering system.
I am at least 3/4 done with it. If I had a IFS frame I would have been finished already...

Quick question did you just use your old power steering system for the IFS box or did you have to change it out to the ifs pump and hoses?? Also how did you bleed the power steering system??

I got the hysteer done tonight drove it home.
"Hey RJ I thought I had another 2 hours"
I know it was just a estimate.
It actually took another 5 or so to complete it.
We drilled the frame sleeve holes in stages with a 1/2" drill bit first then a 3/4" bit and then a 7/8" bit.
The 7/8" bit was the most expensive it was about $35.99 for the darn thing.
I used my old 82 steering shaft on the IFS box. I liked that one since it has the slip spline shaft on it made it alot easier than drilling out those silly pins.
The steering lines hooked right up. However I kept having to add power steering fluid to the resivour.
It still seems like there is a little air in the system but it got me home never the less.
The other thing I noticed after having the ifs box mounted the IFS arm hangs really low it is a little too close to my spring. The arm at the bottom of the nut hangs about 1" from my spring. I am thinking I need to get a modifyed IFS steering arm or a straight arm for it.
Everything else clears without issue though.
Hey and a big thanks to RJ and his welding and drilling skillz.
RJ says I am now known as the drill bit killa since I dulled out at least 2 of the 3 drill bits but we still got it done.
Anyways I caught hell with the old lady for being gone all day again. Looks like I am sleeping on the couch tonight...
A small price to pay though since my hysteer is now done.

Hopefully I will have the full exo and the rock sliders done before then.
As far as the suspension all I have left now is the f350 shock towers, rears up front front u-bolt flip and to put on the chevy's and put on the ubolt the front leaves cut in 1/2 to the frame so I can run a 3/4 ellipitical buggy setup.
Something like this:
