A '92 should be a 2.4, unless its a late 92, ie 93 model year as that's when the 3.0 was introduced on the Surf version, other market area's with the diesel 4Runner already had the 3.0 at this time.

 

Deregister? Is that like de-contamination? I suppose that would be the case give the fact you were getting rid of the the Ford.
