Knock issue

Hey, I been having a knock issue with my 22re. I narrowed it down to the number 3 piston (by removing the spark plug wires). The knock is completly gone when the wire is off, what I need to know is what could it be the rod, wrist pin, etc.. Also I seem to be burning a little oil (sometimes not enough to see but can smell other times you can see) now since the knock. Also you can hear it only when you give it gas in neutral (it idles great), but when it is in gear you can hear it very loud in 1st gear at high rpms then after that the noise is hard to notice unless your listening for it.

Thanks,
Mario

Have you pulled the spark plug. That would be my next step in diagnosing the problem. NGK has a good site that has pictures of fouled/burnt and good plugs to compare to. Hope this helps.

Yes I put new NGK ones in, the old ones looked pretty good for being worn. I will take a look at NGK site, thanks.

Thanks,
Mario
