Running Boards are off!

Took them off last Sunday. I must admit, the truck does look a lot better. I have almost fallen flat on my face twice so far since being off. It'll take time getting use to not having them, I suppose. Wife, dogs & baby hasn't gotten in yet. We'll see how it works.

Now, question is. What are you using in place of front mud flaps?

Aftermarket or Toyota stock? Pics if available please. Thanks!

99,

depends on what kind of fender flare trim you have. is it the thin silver one? or the thicker, sr5 style? or the limited? in all cases, toyota sells front mud flaps. call anyone of the numerous online toyota part stores and ask for a quote.

See my avitar or click the link below to see bigger pics of mine w/out runnning boards...

At my local Toyota dealer:30 bucks a piece for each mud flap. If you have chrome fender trim then it is about 50 bucks a piece for each side.

I have the one with the "thin silver" trim. It would be nice to have one to go along with the trim of the vehicle though.

Anyone have a limited and take the running boards off while leaving the flares on there? If so, I'd like to see some pics. I've considered it for a while. When my brother knocked a hole in the side of my running board while knocking ice chucks off of it, I became a little more interested in the idea.

I'm going to take off my boards by the summer time.

I'll be replacing them with something from here.

Look for my writeup on board removal and mud flap install. I paid about $8 for mine.

I have a pair if you are interested. I ordered from my local dealer by accident and got stuck with them. They fit with the thin "silver trim" but I have the plastic SR5 flares. I installed them and ran them for a week before taking them off and reordering the correct ones for my rig.
Let me know if you want them. I think I paid $46 a piece for them. I'll take $40 for the pair.

Looks good, Mike!

How much did the pair of mudflaps end-up costing?

I can't remember but I know it wasn't cheap. I think $32 a piece or something like that. I found some at local junkyards for cheap but they were pretty beat up and I am anal about my truck so I went new.

I have an SR5 trim package and just bought a black pair of mudflaps from Advance Auto, they have the 4x4 logo on them so I like them. BTW welcome to the running without runningboards club!

All of my pics are like that...

(the header pic on that page isn't bad, then wander the "dirt" pics too)

Mud flap wise, I spent $10 at GI Joes and got pretty happy.

The running boards come off real easy, so it's quick to change your mind. I'd suggest pulling them off just one side, stand back for a look, and.... I'd bet you'll take them off the other side.

Our rigs are identicle (aside from your add-ons). I like the look! I think I'll be doing that modification soon. The only reason I haven't yet is because hauling old folks and short folks (women) is tough enough even with the running boards.

I just got some at the ol autoparts store. I think the were around 6 bucks or something. just screw um in. i have the thicker trim. My back ones looked funny being all long and everything so i cut them and trimmed them shorter. saw someones rig that did that awhile ago. mine looks fine, works fine and cheap. I have a black 4runner though so i dont know if it would look different with the cheapo black mudflaps for the front. just my two cents. i will try and get pics up.
