unfortunately our choices are limited when it comes to aftermarket bumpers. marlin and badland bumpers make some of the better looking ones for our trucks.

 

i agree, the marlin is too pricey and i've heard some bad things about badlands, wonder how hard it would be to put one for an '84 on my 80? are the mounting points even close ?????????

 

c'mon guys, somebody knows how to put an '84 bumper on an '80, don't they???????

 

been lookin at pics and an 84 frame looks an awful lot like an 80 to me?? wonder if it will just bolt up ????

It would be nice to know what modification has to be done since I called them and they didn't know.

Rodger Brown sent me this pic of his bumper mount on his 85 runner.


He has some kind of spacer on it for a body-lift I believe but it clearly shows what kind of mount it has.

You can kinda see the mount on this marlin bumper on this 80's toy.

yeah i saw the same thing on allpro's website, hadn't had a chance to call them, say with a little modification????? and they don't know???????what a mess!!!!!! i can see now i'll be building my own bumper.

 

They told me the guy who knew how to modify it no longer works there. The guy I talked to said it probably isn't that hard though but they didn't know offhand how to do it.
I personally like the bandlands basher tube bumper the best.

I don't like the $500 price though.
However with the price of steel lately with the fabrication is gonna probably cost you about the same as buying a prefabbed bumper....
The tube bumper fabrication isn't hard but you also have to add a winch plate to it which is added time. Most welders/fabricators charge around $40-50 per hr so a bumper like that is going to be at least 6 or so hrs to build because it requires bending tube adding a winch plate add it with the cost of the steel you are right up there at the about same cost.
If you decide to go the custom route make sure you have a plan drawn out of what you want that way it's less time to bend it up for the fabricator.

 

does badlands have a website? i googled it and no bumpers anywhere, just info on badlands trails etc.
