hehehehe made ya look!
Peering into my newly removed intake plenum, you would be confronted with this:

Here are those 'golden' intake runners I was talking about:

So I brought her to a performance shop and for 65 bux he did this:

Damn dude! Looks like he really opened that thing up. What's the texture like? You might want to consider some sand paper to polish 'er up so all that crap won't stick to it as easily again. I can't believe how dirty it was. How'd that thing get up a tree?

here is my PCV mod to make changine the PCV valve a million times easier...AND it allows me to add a catch can if I so desire....
Here is the functioning PCV valve that will be out from under the intake plenum

here is the old, drilled out, PCV valve. I broke a drill bit into 8 pieces drilling it out too... Also of note is the size of the hose. 1/2" vinyl by itself wont fit, however if you put 1/4" vinyl first, then put the 1/2" over its a snug fit. Add a hose clamp and done deal!

And who knows maybe some 600 if I feel REALLY anal...LOL that pic has it hanging from an old fence post with me taking a pic of it at an angle.

Great job so far Bumpin,
Just wondering if the new PCV valve can be positioned horizontally, rather than vertically. I've heard that there may be some gravity assist, rather than just vacuum controlled. I also broke a bit while trying to drill out the innards of my old valve for a mod. I was too anxious to get the whole thing back together again and just installed a new valve and grommet in its original place. BTW, I had that same black build up in the ports like you and the other 3 were pristine.

I ported mine myself but had to pay to get it welded back together when I was done.
Manifold + sawzall
Im currently working my lower manifold while waiting for the head shop to finish making real cyl heads of of my DOA junk. The rest of my motor is being worked over as well. Its being bored 20 over to due to cyl wall taper and the guy also has a sunnon engine balancer so its being fully balanced as well.

One thing of note, after reading Ganoid's thread. Measuring the stock TB opening on the plenum, the cross sectional area is actually smaller than the ends of the runners. This slows the air velocity down and opening up the upper portion should help offset that....as to weather or not that's a good thing, I do not know...LOL
BTW my plenum is it's already a good 5mm wider than the back end of the stock TB...

I do
How's it all going? Please post some pics. This is how I relax between my own 3vze work. Watching your's and a few of the others on here and what they're doing with their engines. Keep it all coming and let us know how it all turns out in the end.

Before after taping...

First layer of paint...

After 2nd coat and drying. Then not paying attention and taking a good bit of paint off of the top of the damn plenum....fortunately you cant see the missing paint in this photo.

Another pic slightly out of focus...

And the underside again out of focus courtesy of a slow shutter speed and my unsteady hands...GRRR

I did some quick measureing....it appears thatthe performance shop only took out 0.020" of metal...GRRR BUT the actual opening is a solid 2/10" wider than the TB allowing a larger TB to be used so the air velocity will go up.
Oh well no change in performance save that crap from the EGR.

heres the intake side that will go in very soon...
7mge vafm and worthy of note is the 3" (iirc) opening on it's backside....
what makes me nervous about this AFM is that it appears to be hacked....I dont know what's been done to it's insides. However impeadance wise, it checks out....

Stock TB with 3" to 2.75" coupler

Nice
Now you need to paint the "TOYOTA" embossed letters bright red or metallic silver with chrome flakes for that flashy "bling-bling" when you show off you engine bay. Seriously it looks good. What type of paint did you use??
