My NY to CA drive will begin on monday. here is what has been I have performed myself on the truck since I bought it three weeks ago. Chime in If I forgot anything.

98 SR5 4WD

replace fuel filter
air filter
plugs
clean maf
oil
2 tranny drain and refills with mobil 1
mobil 1 in TC
degrease engine
brembo/PF pad upgrade
rear brake adjustment (brake spoon)
balance and rotation
new antenna (need tunes for week of driving)

 

Clean throttle body, replace PCV valve?

 

Whats the cause for the cross country trip? What part of CA you going to? Maybe, if close enough and I haven't left for Idaho yet, a few of us can get together?? Just a thought.

I guess its too late now but if it was me I would have changed the cap, rotor and wires along with the plugs and would have made sure my antifreeze was OK, I probably would have just changed it! I would also change my rear diff fluid again, just because it is starting to howl a little, it would suck to be 2000 miles from home and have a break down......

 

antifreeze is good. Im moving out to CA to go back to school and want to get into the automotive industry.

 

Its a Toyota............jump in it and go!!!

 

I would still replace the antifreeze and thermostat as well as change both Diff fluids and Tranny and T/C (I think you did those last 2). I would also consider changing the wiper blades, Cap, Rotor and plug wires.

 

wipers are def changed and I polished the glass to remove that annoying road film on it. The truck only has 77k on it so im pretty sure that the plug wires, cap and rotor are good. Shes running nice (knock on wood). Im more worried about gettign a flat and having to deal with that useless factory jack. AAA will have to rescue me then.

Correction...the drive begins tommorow (wednesday) not monday.

Throw some solid blocks of wood somewhere just in case you need a little extra lift.

 

Well you don't have a cap and rotor so don't worry about that. But, if you have 77K on the origional plugs and or wires then they could definitely use changing. Do the PCV valve while you are at it, it's cheap.

 

bring along some fix-a-flat too!

 

goign to school for automotive design at Art Center in Pasadena. I want to work in a shop a bit before school. Hot rod or custom shop. PLugs are new and got the fix a flat too. Just loaded her up. Shes saggin a bit in the back but thats expected with all the weight. The springs are a week old so I guess they'll bounce back nice.
