Kelly Tires

When I bought my 2000 4runner a few weeks ago, it came with Kelly Safari SUV radials (265/70/16s). They are M+S rated. Feature detail can be seen at kellytires.com

I looked up some information on them on the Kelly Tire website but couldn't really find out much else about them. As far as I know, Kelly makes good tires.

One thing that is strange about them. Thier max cold PSI is 35. I'm more used to seeing 50 or 60 as a max PSI for truck tires.

They seem to perform adequately so I'm keeping them, I was just wondering if you all had any expirience/input you could share to fill me in a little?

I had a set of Kelly Safari MSR 6 ply rated tires and was very happy with them. They had good wear and never let me down and I spend a lot of time in the desert and in the mountains.

No complaints.

They are good tires. I have a set which are made for Les schwab tires on my 4runner. They are called Wild Country APT. Had a set on my Jeep GC serveral years ago, (yeah, I know) and never had a problem. Light off roading. Good in the snow and rain. I don't know how they would be for more aggressive off-roading, however they are a great highway tire. Not to mention with Les Schwabs road hazard warranty which includes free rotation and balance for the life of the tire, can't be beat.
I did have to insist that they used the adapter for balancing. they put up a fuss saying that my toyota wheels were both lug and hub centric.(No such thing). But after they dusted the adapter off and a quick lesson on use(another story). They balance and these tires are as smooth as glass.

Light off-roading...thats me.

I'm thinking about next weekend going down to poke around on forest road 72 or 73. I hear there is some really nice scenery this time of year. If we don't get too much snow this week.

SO, I finally got down to the forest. There was snow, hard pack, soft dirt, loose gravel, skree from a washout, and a little mud. The Kelly's only gave up on me in the deep powder.

I'd definately recommend them for someone needing an all-terrain tire.
