My '85 EFI 4runner was 85% complete when I got ahold of itand im nearly done but! My pressure regulator return line isnt connected to anything, and the only line I can find that looks right is hooked up next to the cold start injector on the deal that has a spring w/ a plastic screw cap on it. I cant find out what it is in any of my manuals. If u know what that is should it have a rubber hose hookedto a hard line running down along the frame or should it be a vacuum line hooked to the spring w/ cap deal. Ive looked in every manual there is and still stumped.

 

Spring/screw "ting" is the idle up valve, bumps up the idle speed when the A/C is on or the power steering is used at idle to kee the engine from getting bogged down.

There should be a vacuum line from the intake manifold to the top of the fuel pressure regulator. That line adjusts fuel pressure (low at light engine load, higher at high load). The vacuum line is usually run through a VSV on the valve cover, but I eliminated mine and just ran it direct. There are two fuel lines to the FPR below, supply and return.

 

well My pressure regulator has the vacuum hose. But should the idle up screw have a fuel line or a vacuum hose on it. I think someone just stuck my return fuel line to the idle spring thing, not sure though.

 

You bet, as many as two lines, as mentioned one from the A/C idle-up VSV and one from the p/s idle-up pressure switch on the pump (which is blocked off on the picture below):



The 3rd (larger) line is the air feed from before the throttle body that is what the idle-up valve uses to let extra air into the intake to boost the idle speed.

 

thanks for the pic. I can put the line back on the pressure regulator. i figured it was just in the wrong spot. ill find the appropriate vac line for the idle up valve.
