hey you Griot's guys....

I wanted to get some opinions on this little beauty....

http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.jsp?searchtext=10186

Is it possible to do a complete automatic transmission fluid flush and/or a brake fuild flush?

Is the pressure this pump creates too much for the transmission seals?

Thanks for your help!

got a reply for griot's (long)

Thank you for your email and interest in Griot's Garage. Keeping your transmission fluid clean is an important part of having safe fun on the road. Our Oil and Liquid Extractor (item 10122) will be a major benefit to the changing of your fluid.

One of the reasons why our oil/liquid extractor works so well is that the suction created is not a "super suction" that will blow out your seals, etc. What you will get is a powerful suction that will pull out the viscous transmission fluid and will do it easily. Also, with the extractor, you will get a selection of three tubes. This will allow you to get a long 72" reach but will also give you the option of switching to a smaller diameter tube, incase you have to reach a hard to get area.

One tip I can give you is to make sure, when you have your tubes in place and are ready to extract, that you give the handle 4 or 5 full pumps (all the way to the top and all the way to the bottom). This will build up a proper pressure and allow the fluid to extract. If you only give it 2 or 3 pumps or, like in my case, if you give it 10 "half way" pumps, the fluid will begin to flow out but will stop after about 30 seconds (this is frustrating). Simply giving it the full pumps will remedy this! For more information on our Oil/Liquid Extractor, please follow this direct link to our website, http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.j...rchtext=10122. If you need a little assistance with putting the fluid back in (something we could all use) take a look at one of my new favorite products, http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=44736. I know it seems a little weird at first (it did to me too) but trust me, after you have dealt with fluid all over your engine bay, down your grille, across your floor and all over your sink, you will be glad you installed this guy in your garage. Screw the housing to your wall and install the included bottle at the base (or any bottle at all with a similar thread, milk jug, pop bottle, oil bottle, etc.). Use the funnel to fill your transmission fluid, your oil, your radiator, your brake fluid, etc. When you are done, it will simply pop into the housing and drain any remaining fluid into the storage bottle (not onto your floor, shelf, counter, or sink).

If you need some shop towels to clean up any missed drips, we have some great ones here, http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=14800. Finally, after you've been in your engine bay all day and you've decided it needs some sprucing up, you can get it shiny again with our Engine Cleaner Kit (item 11550), http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=11550.

I hope this information will be helpful. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reply to this email, or call our Customer Service Department at (800) 345-5789 6am - 8pm M-F and 7am - 3:30pm Saturday PST.

Thanks again for your e-mail and have a great day!

Steve
