Woohoo, New 4.88's and New Clutch came in Today

Well most of it anyway, the Yukon 4.88 front gears are on backorder, arrgghh . I received the rear Yukon 4.88's, Yukon install kit for the rear, and Yukon install kit for the front (is the front reverse rotation?), and the Marlin Clutch. Hopefully I will have it on in the next 2-3 weeks, it will definitely be on for the Southeast ride in May at Tellico.

Anyone have any suggestions on stuff to look out for when installing the gears? I will not be doing that myself, rather someone here that has done it before.

Did you get the whole Marlin kit, flywheel, plate etc...or just parts of it? Is that the one that has the ceramic plate pads?

Make sure they have more than just experience with one or two and that they have some Toyota experience...you don't want that getting fubared for sure.

Good luck

Just the pressure plate, disc, and bearing, alignment tool. No not the ceramic pads, more like stock except it has 1200 lbs clamping force instead of the stock 900 lbs. There is no aftermarket flywheel for the 3.4

I will be chancing the gear install a little, he has done many Toyota's, just not any 3rd gen 4Runners or Tacoma's.

Box for the install kit says:

YK T7.5-REV

7.5" REV IFS Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, &T100 Master Overhaul Kit

Did they send me the wrong thing or correct thing?

that's the right ones. 3rd gen 4runners, tacos, and tundras all have the same diff and therefore the same gears. all are standard rotation, reverse cut.

For sale-one of 2 ways, 4.30 rear ring and pinion-remember electric locker though and 4.30 front ring and pinion, or 4.30 rear ring and pinion and complete front 4.30 diff. PM me if you're seriously interested. Will need to know by next Wednesday though if you want the whole diff.

is there any way i can talk your guy into coming up here to help me set my gears up??! i will gladly supply the beer! oh,after he gets your's back together and road tested that is!! i got zac's front diff apart last weekend (the one that broke in 3rd gear,4 low, at 5,000rpm) and it looks like a handgrenade went off in it!! the cross pin broke letting the spider gears go. also,i need your opinion on a front lockright,,,,should i or not?? with it i'm pretty much guaranteed to get to try my hand at trailside cv replacement,,, your thoughts?? later
