qusetion about 3rd member position

qusetion about 3rd member position

which way does the pinion flange face? is it more up in the air or on the bottom. i just installed a lock-right in my 8" but i didn't even think to pay attention to how the 3rd member came out of the housing. right now i have it so that the pinion flange is on the bottom. is this right? from what pics i found i think that i have it right.

look at the front diff.....i think ur right, but i dont know for sure

i remembered one day i looked into the fill hole on the diff and i could see the ring gear. i can see the ring gear right now the way that i have it so i know its right now. thanks for the info though
