Exhaust sound Comparison

I know this is and searching resulted in a amount of info on loud high flow exhaust systems.
I know I am venturing off here, but since it is my wife's truck for awhile, I am looking for an exhaust/muffler that is as quite or close to stock but will still improve MPG and/or HP.
Any thing out there? I understand it would be hard to accomplish less restrictive muffler without it being louder, but I'm looking for a quite muffler but still with performance gains.

It would seem the dynaflow 24" is quite alone with the flowmaster 50 delta. How do these compare to stock?

Are the stock systems stainless? My 93 Corolla with 169k still has it's first muffler.

umm, from what i understand the dynaflow and the flowmaster are very loud and not "quiet" at all.

I know the flowmaster 40 series is really loud, I've got that on mine but I'm not sure about the 50 series. I've had a DynoMax before and it wasn't very loud at all...didn't really improve on mileage though, I would think the cat is where the better mileage would come from.

I have a 50 series, and it sounds excellent, with NO interior resonation...

I would definitiely recommend this muffler to anyone looking for a good muffler with great sound.

One thing to keep in mind is that a longer muffler is quieter than a shorter one. A Magnaflow 24" is _quieter_ than stock, a Magnaflow 14" is MUCH louder than stock.

This page may help.
