I have been running K&N for the past couple years but always seem to over oil the filter. I just want advice from you guys as to if im doing it right or other ways to do this. I start by spraying the cleaner and letting it sit for a few and then rinse it out. I will let it sit and dry then oil it. I oil it by putting the oil charger in the grooves all the way around the filter. I usually end up with excess fluid that wants to drip all over and even after I let the filter dry and slap it on my rig it will still drip. I wonder if I end up with more dirt build up being its wet and attracting the crap. So how do you guys do it? Looking for serious advice, none of that K&N sucks comments please.

 

that the wya you do it... normally i mist mine with the oil though... and thats just lightly.... ones its nice and pink, its done....

 

so I probally am over oiling it in the end. it doesnt suck it into the tb but drips all over the inner fender. how do you just mist it. get a spray bottle?

actually just checked.. its not a spray bottle its an aerosol can... K&n Part No. 99-0504 Air Filter Oil 6.5 oz

 

I think the oil he's talking about comes in a little squeeze bottle and you have to squeeze it into each pleat. The aerosol is MUCH easier to control in terms of the flow.

 

I have the squeeze bottle to and I oil on the top of each pleat.
ie: /\ Just run down the top from one end to the other. I go a bit quick and slight because the oil spreads easy.

 

I'll second that. Over oiling them can cause problems with your air flow meter.

 

I way over oiled my fiancee's last time I cleaned it. Next time, i'm going to barely run the bottle over the top of each cleat, then let it sit for a day or two and check on it. last time I was seeping extra oil out of it for a week before I felt comfortable putting it back into her car. I had oiled the crest and trough of each cleat which ended up being way too much oil
