Average factory battery life?

Just had to replace my battery in my 01 v6 prerunner. I was wondering is this about right or is something else wrong? It starts up strong now though.
Oh yeah, it's about 3.5 years old and has 45K.

The OEM Panasonic battery in Sherpa lasted from June, 1997 (manufacturer date) to the fall of 2002. Sam Porter (SportRunner) had taken his OEM Panasonic battery out of his 1997 truck about a year prior and upgraded to an Optima battery. Sam gave me his old battery. It had been sitting on a concrete floor in a garage for nearly a year. Well, I just said goodbye to Sam's battery 2 weeks ago! So, I can say the battery from Sam's truck that went into mine lasted somewhere between 7.5 and 8+ years!

Yeah, a few people said that's about right. But I see some of you that go way more than 3 years. I hope nothing is wrong with my car. Maybe it's because of the alarm and me putting up the windows after I turn of the car, also auto door locks when you turn on and off the ignition.
Anyway, thanks for the response.

i used to work at a tire place, and i changed out customers batteries all the time.... if the battery was the original stock one, they generally lasted anywhere between 3-6 years... but really it was more in the range of like 3.5-4.5 years..... and htis was an average figure of the wide range of cars/trucks we serviced

A few years ago I did the research on replacement batteries. AutoZone's DuraLast Gold turned out to be the best bang for the buck. Twelve month free repalcement, 6 year prorated warranty. All my bookmarks are on a different computer, so I'll try to get them posted when I get back to it.

I read reviews about the DuraLast but we don't have an autozone in Hawaii.
