I just put a brush guard on my '98 4runner and it is blocking the original fog lights. They were crappy anyway so now I want to mount either a small driving lamp, or small fog lights on the lower part of my brush guard. However, I don't want to spend more than $200 and I want the best kind. Any info or feedback?

i have optilux 1000's... if you seal them with silicon, they'll last forever. theyve lasted over a year, with minor wear.





they go from anywhere from 45 to 70 bucks depending on where you get em. i got em for 40 because they were on sale, but they usually go for around 55.

 

Hella 500 driving/fog lights are good for the money. Generally, they run around 60-70ish at most auto places.

 

Alot of people around here like the Lightforce's. I am looking at getting the 240's (I think those are the ones), but they are over $200. I think the 140's or the 170's are both under $200 and everyone here who has them loves them!
The great thing about the Lightforce's is they have different covers for different conditions. Clear for regual driving, Yellow for fog, and then they have Blue, Green, Red, Orange, and Black just for looks.

Lightforces are the BMW of lights... They are the best, but you will pay for them! My hella 500s were a good deal, I can't wait to try the FF1000s that I got for $35 on clearance at advanced auto parts though...

 

Anything hella. The 500s/550s are probably the most popular, but whatever hella light fits your budget and your application.

I'm running 2 pairs of 500 driving lights, 1 pair of 500 fogs, 1 pair of FF75 fogs, and one pair of Rallye 4000 euros - all hellas, all great lights.

 

I like the way those Optilux 1000s look on your 4Runner. I may just have to get myself a pair. Thanks!

 

Anything Hella is going to be good for the money, bottomline. The 500's are great, I've had my fogs for about a year and my driving lights for about 4 months and they are awesome! I'm going to replace the fogs on my ARB with the FF75's, I can't wait for those to come in.

jackson, how do you like the FF75's? I'm hoping mine will put out adequate lighti from my bumper, I got the fog version. What do you think of yours?

yea, im thinking of fabbing some brackets to put my optiluxes in the stock location, then adding ff75's on my brush guard.

what color is the light out of the ff75's? yellowish-white or white?

The FF75s are white, but they may be available in amber - I can't remember for sure. I'm very happy with mine as a true fog light. They are mounted low and aimed wide. I couldn't drive at night with just the FF75s as they don't shine far enough ahead, but they are great for lighting up the side of the road, or for use alone when driving very slowly though really thick fog.

 

so they arent blinding? thats good, cause i like mine to be on most of the time.

I run a set of Procomp 130w 6" lights and they can't be beat for the money. They go for about $40 ea. US. But they are a empty highway ONLY light. I can see 800 yards clearly and relective surfaces for up to over half a mile on a straight road.

 

They are the small ones mounted IN the bumper

Yeah they looked great for the first 1-2 months and they were bright comprable to the rallye 1000 then they started to look foggy and white...They could be cleaned and sealed I'm sure...Course I only had mine for about 8 months before some jackass decided to angle them in and broke the housing...I dont think they are worth the 200$ they cost...
