what vehicle do you have? if its a mechanical fuel pump and you have a carb, thats possible.. but the gasket shouldnt have anything to do with it unless the mechanical fuel pump is internally damaged or leaking...

you have fuel in your oil... menaing your rings are bad or there is some type of leak somewhere....

you dont have t obe losing any power to have leaky rings or a bad head gasket... the point is its contaminated and something is wrong

does your engine leak any oil? the reason i ask is because my fuel pump leaks oil... yup... oil into the engine bay... so its very possible i jsut almost have the opposite problem... but the same... the fuel pump has 2 little holes under its big head... well these holes on mine, oil drips out of them... dont know why...... its a pretty constant drip but my truck really doesnt lose that much oil and it doesnt seem contaminated...

Do you get lousy mileage? Maybe carb rebuild time? Maybe too much fuel is washing down the cylinders? Seen this more than once with a fuel injected vehicle, but it ran poorly and the mileage went way down. The only time I ever heard of it with a carb was when some fool put a HUGE carb on a stock small block. Ran poor and sucked fuel too. He finally listened to reason when he started smelling gas in the oil... Just another thought.

How many miles are on it? Are you checking for the smell under the oil cap or after you drain it? A little fuel smell in the oil is normal for a high mileage 22r.

Have you replaced the two gaskets between the fuel pump and the head yet? There's a thin gasket on both sides of the fuel-pump spacer.

Its got 320,000 miles and the gas smell was real bad when i drained the oil. I replaced the fuel pump and 1 line and it is running real good. Fuel pump after all. Runs like a top.
