Traded my 4Runner for a Sequoia

Well, I shouldn't say that the 4Runner was ever mine to begin with. The truck was my wife's daily driver, but I had aspirations of paying it off down the road and getting my wife something else. We decided that with a growing family that it was time to get something bigger ahead of schedule. With that in mind we went to the stealership to test drive a few vehicles.

The 4th generation 2005 4Runner we test drove was not much bigger than the 2002, at least not enough to justify the switch. We then drove a 2005 Sequoia with the 282HP VVTi 4.7L V8, 5 speed tranny, and all wheel disc brakes. Let me just say that even though this truck is probably 1000lbs heavier, it was probably 20% faster than our supercharged 2002 4Runner. I couldn't believe it. Handled nicely and felt no bigger than my old 2003 Tundra. So we worked out a good deal and even got the dealer to remove the supercharger as part of the trade. The supercharger is for sale for those interested.

Anyway, we were able to get a sport package on the Sequoia which comes with tube steps instead of running boards, different wheels, and rear load leveling suspension. It's got a few other things but I really just wanted the wheels and tube steps. I've had a lot of fun reading through the posts on this board. I would like to thank all of those who were instamental in helping drain my checking account on modifications. Take care and stay safe.....

Yeah, it sounds like you're leaving. You are still driving a Toyota, hang around.

The new Sequoias are really nice. They are just to big for our needs, the engine and gearbox upgrade made a huge difference in the responsiveness of these big vehicles.

No....I'm not leaving. But I've got to stay away from the mod bug for awhile. I've got a little school to finish and I tend to lose track of time surfing the forum. Maybe it wouldn't have taken me nine years to finish my degree if I wasn't so focused on yota's. Eventually I'd like to get myself another 4Runner or maybe a 2001-2003 doublecab Tacoma. Or maybe someday I'll hit the lottery and own a tacoma, tundra, 4runner, and a landcruiser.
