CIL light goes out after filling up gas tank. WTF??

After clearing my CIL light last week it came back on a few days ago. So now I`m surely working on getting the codes pulled (which will be Monday 27th). This morning I filled up the tank and started her back up and noticed the CIL light is gone. My wife and I was shocked. I have never heard this happen. Has this ever happened to anyone else and any suggestions? I`m thinking it will come back on but who knows?

Sounds like a problem with the EVAP canister. Maybe a small line came off?

Have you had the code read to find out what it is? Do you have Autozone's on the Islands?

No Autozone but Checkers will rent me a reader for 6 bucks which I will do on Monday 27th. EVAP canister?? I`ll have to bust out the magnifying glass and pull a Sherlock Holmes here LOL. I`ve looked at all the hoses but will have to check again to make sure. THANKS!

alot of the time the seal onthe gas cap goes causing it to throw a cil light. the bad seal will cause it to read a evap problem. I would clear the code, replace the cap and try as it is cheap and easy to give it a go. more times than enough it has been the gas cap.

I agree with muskie. These newer cars are damn picky about leaving off a gas cap or having a cap seal go bad. Check the easy ˟˟˟˟ first :-)
