I'm checking out an '87 4Runner SR5 EFI. The owner says it burns oil it has a new head. He also changed the timing chain. It has manual hubs. Solid body but some rust. Also, he says that it runs better when the weather is cold than when it's hot. He meant better in the sense it runs faster. It has 309, 000 kms.
He is asking $1500 (Canadain Dollars).

Is it a good investment, keeping in mind that I need to repair the problems I stated above?
If so, how much am I looking at spending to fix it?
Which parts do I need to purchase?
Are there any other questions I should ask the owner?
When my dad drove it he said that it drove kind of rough/heavy, but I think that's because it was on 4wd. I'm not an expert!
So any advice/input would be greatly appreciated! By the way he has not driven the car for a year.

He is a farmer and the closest city is about 50 kms. away. He is also the second owner of this vehicle. I'm assuming that this 4Runner only has Highway kilometers.
