Seatbelt wire

ok on my 91 pickup regular cab, it has a wire coming from the seat bealt clip, part with the button, i looked at it and the wire is cut. Is this to stop a buzzer from going or is it there for something else and should i connect i back and if yes how?

it doesnt matter.... i think its supposed to be for the seatbelt light, however mine is plugged in and works, but it never makes any noise or anything.. the light on the dash lights up for about 10 seconds when i start it, then goes out, regardless of if the seatbelt is connected or not

wierd, when i noticed it i paid carefull attention to the dash also, the seatbelt light comes on for 10 seconds no sound, you would think it would cause the light to stay on, maybe toyota got smart and rigged it to were if it was cut it wouldnt do anything. oh well, im gonna be replacing my throw out bearing and pilot bearing tomarrow, one of em is starting to squeke. anyone have any tips to make the job easier?

According to the FSM, if the seat belt is buckled, the buckle switch will open and will curtail the buzzer. That's the only difference in operation of the warning system. So cutting the wire makes it think the belt is buckled, you still get the light but no buzzer.

even if my seatbelt is not connected, i dont get a light or a buzzer

other than the 10 seconds the light stays on @ startup

otehr than that, at no time is the ligth ever on regardless of the seat belt being buckled or not

That is correct.

1. SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM
WHEN THE IGNITION SW IS TURNED ON, CURRENT FLOWS FROM THE GAUGE FUSE TO TERMINAL 9 OF THE SEAT BELT
WARNING RELAY. AT THE SAME TIME, CURRENT FLOWS TO TERMINAL 8 OF THE RELAY FROM THE GAUGE FUSE THROUGH THE
SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT. THIS CURRENT ACTIVATES THE SEAT BELT WARNING RELAY AND , FOR APPROX. 4–8 SECONDS,
CURRENT FLOWING THROUGH THE WARNING LIGHT FLOWS FROM TERMINAL 8 OF RELAY " TERMINAL 7 " GROUND, CAUSING
THE WARNING LIGHT TO LIGHT UP. AT THE SAME AS THE WARNING LIGHT LIGHTS UP, A BUCKLE SW ON SIGNAL IS INPUT TO
TERMINAL 6 OF RELAY, THE CURRENT FLOWING TO TERMINAL 3 OF RELAY FLOWS FROM TERMINAL 7 " GROUND AND THE SEAT
BELT WARNING BUZZER SOUNDS FOR APPROX. 4–8 SECONDS. HOWEVER, IF THE SEAT BELT IS PUT ON DURING THIS PERIOD
(WHILE THE BUZZER IS SOUNDING), SIGNAL INPUT TO TERMINAL 6 OF RELAY STOPS AND THE CURRENT FLOW FROM TERMINAL
3 OF RELAY " TERMINAL 7 " GROUND IS CUT, CAUSING THE BUZZER TO STOP.

B6 BUCKLE SW
OPEN WITH DRIVER’S LAP BELT IN USE
D7 DOOR COURTESY SW
CLOSED WITH DOOR OPEN
I15 UNLOCK WARNING SW
CLOSED WITH IGNITION KEY IN CYLINDER
SEAT BELT WARNING RELAY
7–GROUND : ALWAYS CONTINUITY
10–GROUND : CONTINUITY WITH DOOR OPEN
2–GROUND : APPROX. 12 VOLTS WITH IGNITION KEY IN CYLINDER
6–GROUND : CONTINUITY UNLESS DRIVER’S LAP BELT IN USE
8–GROUND : 0 VOLTS FOR 4–8 SECONDS WITH IGNITION SW ON AND 12 VOLTS 4–8 SECONDS AFTER IGNITION SW ON
3–GROUND : APPROX 12 VOLTS WITH IGNITION SW ON

I don't get a buzzer either, and my seat buckle switches are unplugged. I assume it's just shot. I don't want to fix it. But I also don't have a headlight reminder buzzer, and that I could use.

my harness is connected with no signs of wear, and i dont get a buzzer if my buckle isnt fastened.... i would like the headlight reminder buzzer, my 93 tercel had one, in my truck, i have actually left the lights on to the point it killed my battery, several times... however its a stick, so i just push start it and all is well

ok well everything is out, except now the new clutch, it looks new because the disc has a lot of meat on it, the pressure plate is new but the disc and fly wheel have scratches on them, the flywheel inst bad, gonna have it machined tomarrow, but the disc has huge gouges in it so thats gonna get replaced.
