Wife & I went on a solo snow run to Greenwater last Sunday. There was some fresh snow starting just past the town of Greenwater. Not a lot, but enough to have fun and get some pics. Adventure started on FS74 road. We like it up there! Of course, as we climbed higher the snow got deeper.
The '84 was great in the snow. Darn thing is like a mt. goat...

I can hardly wait for the snow run. I have been working on making some armor for my 87 Toyota. I have sliders and a rear bumper that I started building last week. I got the rear bumper test fit last night, and I need to finish it so that I can start on the front bumper/winch mount. I hope to find some shackle hangers or weld on D-rings locally to install on the rear bumper and front bumper. My deadline is the 10th, but I will go with or without a "real" front bumper.

Great pics Jim, and the rig is looking very nice.

If I get my recall here soon, I will have my rig ready for a spring run I hope, maybe even a late winter one.

A friend and I went up FSR 70 to 7060 on Saturday and found about the same amount.

 

Jim that is one good looking '84! Those Badland bumpers look great too. And you just gotta love the BFG AT's in the snow.

The only thing that scoots through the snow better than my SA Toyota, is a 700 RMK
Do you snowmobile up that way?

 

These tires did perform quite well, though the snow wasn't very deep. Not that great of a tire test, really. I'd like to try them in deeper snow, and I'm sure I'll get the chance soon. I've thought about replacing these with something more aggressive, but I've yet to get these in a situation that they couldn't handle with ease.
I've considered the BFG M/T, but I like factory siping which they do not have. I'm more interested in snow performance than mud. I don't think the BFG M/T's are all that highly rated for snow. I've also considered the Parnelli-Jones Dirt Grip tires, but those are pretty darn expensive. They do have factory siping, however.
At any rate, I'll probably just run these A/T's for awhile.

I have yet in my life to play around in real powder-like snow. I've only ever been in slush and ice. That looks awesome.

 

Jim, you should stop by Les Schwab and look into the Wild Country TXRs like I and Todd have.

We had some snow in the Sierra's this weekend too.
These were taken where my daughter lives near Hume Lake in the Sequoia National Forrest. She is right between Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park.
