Still got the noise in the rear

ive already posted about this but i figuredid try again... when i am driving my 87 4x4 p/u. it seems like there is some slack whenever i go from off the gas to on the gas, along with this there is a clunk in the rear end, i reserched it more and seems like it is coming from where the driveshaft goes into the rear end...not the u joints though what could it be?

please help

How many miles? Any recent rear end work? I had the same problem with a new gear install. Could be the pinion bearing going south.

Sounds like bearings or u joints to me. Any noise or just a clunk? Have you pulled the rear d shaft and driven on the front to narrow it down?
