Anyone running a roller fairlead w/ front license plate?
It seems like I remember something about getting Mag-light clips to attach to the rollers and then attaching tag to clips( to make it removable). Or maybe I am losing my mind and made that up by myself???
Any ideas??

Thanks for the link. That is a Mag-Lite clip correct? I am just trying to be a tight a** and buy just a couple clips. Guess I will just have to break down and spend the $$$.

You could make one very easily, but for the money this is well made.

 

You could just buy a couple mag lite brackets (which is what both those kits appear to use... they look identical to my mag lite brackets!) and put bolts directly through your license plate. Its not as rigid, but it works like a champ. Or buy yourself a small piece of sheet metal at the hardware store and use that behind the plate. Both those kits are somewhat pricey considering how easy it'd be to make one. IMHO.

 

Where did you find the Mag-Lit brackets? I checked Wally world and the "Big k" and no luck.

This is what I did with my TJM-T15. I am installing a winch with roller fairlead soon. Looks like it should work fine. I just rotate the plate up when I want, and it is more theft resistant with the plugged allen head bolts.

I'm glad we don't have front plates in Oklahoma.

 

We are required to run them in WA. state, but to be honest with you, I do not run mine.

Mine does sit behind the front passenger seat on the floor "just in case" I do get stopped.

Been running "plateless" since February of 2002.

PS, both the kit Brian linked to and mine are the same ones.

I found the brackets at Grainger I believe. They have a good stock of Mag-Lites and accessories. I believe they were only $5 or so. I saw some at Galyans the other day as well. I actually use mine for a Mag-Lite. I may get some though to make a cover plate for my roller fairlead and winch so bug guts don't nasty up the fairlead or winch cable (nit-picky I know!).

i agree about those kits being too much $$. im a DIYer.
Dozer had the mag clips on his and it worked marvelously.

i don't have a front plate either, took it off for the radar vans and just haven't gotton around to putting it back on yet

 

I just found them at Grainger for like $5.00 ea. With shipping I paid $13.50. Just have to be persistent.

TJM makes a bracket that bolts to the fairlead mounting bolts. It has a hinge to allow the tag to flip up out of the way when you need the winch.

This is what I had until a Tacoma's parking brake failed on hill and rolled down into my truck and mashed the tag bracket all to hell.

However, I do like those adel clamps from Grainger that one guy is using. I might go that route.
