started my '95 4runner this morning and the amber rear anti-lock brake warning light came on. this is a new one. i've searched a bit and haven't come up w/ much and my repair manuals are not here

what are the possible causes of this light? worn drums? loose plug? bad sensor?

 

All great places to start. I had the same problem and couldn't get it to go away. Finally I took the dash apart and removed the bulb.

 

which isn't what i call "fixing" it. guess i'll have to wait a few more days till i can get ahold of my manuals and run through all the checklists and what sets this damn light off

 

Try pulling the codes and see what the diagnostics say maybe?

 

I have a '91 Runner with the same "problem." Apparently, the light is telling you that your rear anti lock brakes aren't working. You still have rear brakes, and unless something changes, they are fine. Do you really want anti locks? Seems to me that taking the bulb out is fixing the problem.

Course, that's on a '91.

 

Same on my 91, anti lock light and it still works fine.
