I'm almost ready to sell my runner. What would you do?

This things giving me a headache. I just spent some good quality time with my 4runner, giving her a new knock sensor wire. It seems fine, then the CEL comes on. For what? of course!! knock sensor. So i just said to myself, !@#$@ it. Then, this morning, it wouldn't start easy at all. I had to pretty much floor it and hold it to get it to start. And the idle was really low and it would go up and down. and when i reved it, some water and smoke would shoot out of the exhaust. No water in the oil though. So i test the TPS, and it seems like its bad. my ohm meter isn't all that great. but i put the jumper wire for checking the timing, and the idle didn't change. So is my head gasket bad? or just the tps? If i spend the $100 or so on a new TPS, is something else gonna go wrong? i'm thinking all these things, and also how i hate the 3.slow. So i'm wondering if it would be better to sell it how it is, and probably break even since i got a deal on it in the first place, or...try and pour more money into it and try to get it fixed. I really don't wanna go to satan. So i'm just venting and asking my self questions, but please do give me your comments.

P.S. if i sell it, i can't think of anything else to get other than another toyota. on second thought, does a 22re fit in a 3.0 engine bay? hmmm
