Cheap 99-02 Factory Hella fog light color conversion

Today I took off my factory fog lights to clean the lenses because cheap H3 bulb actually Blew up in the housing! When i was clening this I thought, hey why not use a lighting gel to somehow change the color. They're used for stage lighting and are designed to withstand high-heat condition. I cut a small circle to match the size of the projector and inserted it in. After putting everything back together I turned on the lights...Holy ˟˟˟˟! it looks sweet! they look Identical to PIAAs if not yellower. I don't know about you guys but paying $40+ for PIAA Ion crystal is a royal pain in your wallet. And with this mod, I can even use a clear bulb which have way more bulb life. Another plus side to this is that I can change the colors to blue, red, yellow, or green, stack different colors and you can get purple(blue+red) and so on.

If you decide to do this mod, I wouldn't recommend go any higher than 55W bulbs due to high-heat situation.

I have put up a write-up/pics on my webshots account. Click link for my homepage and go in "lighting gel mod" folder

cost=$10 for 4(blue,yellow,red,green)lighting gels

final product

comparason with Hella Ion Crystal(yellow) bulbs, which doesnt look yellow at all
