ok, i found a diagram showing which wires are which, but in the diagram a couple of colors are missing from what i have in the 4runner.

also, i don't have a black wire, but i do have a brown wire.

which is ground, 12volt and ACC?

Brown should be the ground, but you're better off to run the ground from the head unit directly to a good ground on the frame (no more than 18" wire though or resitance gets high) ... your accessory wire should be red and your battery wire should be blue/yellow.

ok, i went ahead and wired it up already

the blue/yellow 12volt lead wasn't giving any juice so i ran a lead directly from the positive terminal on the battery. it's a pretty long lead, at least 5'. is this too long? do i need a fuse? if so, what amp?

i wasn't sure about the ground, so i ran a ground lead to the chassis in the engine bay. it's more than 18" and it works. i'll make a shorter lead tomorrow.

the factory ACC lead was getting juice when the ignition was turned on, so i went ahead and used it. it's gray by the way.

all in all, the radio is working nicely. i'll clean up the install when i get a chance.
