Speaker advice needed

I'm starting to piece together my system. While browsing online I found some CDT CL-6X for 58 and visionary audio and 60 at the zeb. I have heard praise about cdt's quality but that seems low even for full range. Is there a reason they are cheap (like new models coming out) or are they crap?

I would go with other brands. If you looking for a good Coaxle go with Eclipse. Other than that Diamond Audio is awsome. Check out prices at Sound Domain.com they usally have some good stuff on clearance. Or even check Ebay

those CDT cl-6x's are really good speakers for rear fill (with components up front), not for use as your main front speakers.

I don't know anything about Visionary. If you aren't looking to spend too much, go for some Infinity coaxials.

Real advice from someone who knows

Those CDT's you are looking at are GREAT speakers.... but they are mids only. You're probably looking for a coaxial speaker, or a set of component speakers for your application. CDT is an amazing company with amazing products, I would highly recommend them. I've got nothing but CDT for my mids and highs. As a recommendation, I would recommend the Classic series, which can be purchased from thezeb. They would come off as CL-61 if you were looking for a 6.75/6.5 front set. They do have coaxials as well, but depending on which generation you're rolling in you'll want components. Hope that helps.

P.S. I would recommend avoiding anything with a metal/titanium tweeter. For most people, they are too harsh/bright on the ears. A better choice is silk or fabric tweeter. Much more smooth.
