Anyone up for a Baja run?

Initial planning started for a late February-early March '03 run to Cabo. Combination fishing, camping, surfing, hotels, and mostly lots of exploring. About 800-1,000 miles off-pavement, but nothing much to slow a 'Runner down (I hope). I've friends with a house on the ocean in Todo Santos in the extreme SW for our destination. Figuring three weeks R/T from Portland. Any interest?

That sounds great but my vacation time for the all of next year is already spoken for. How long would it take to go down and back?

Two days from Portland to the San Diego crossing. I'm figuring up to 17 days to crisscross the peninsula North to South and back to the US. A comfortable 50-60 mile per day pace off-road, including parts of the Baja 500 and 1,000 routes.

If you were to drive on the paved highway it would take an easy 6 days R/T.

No offense, but Im tired of hearing about all these runs out in the north-west and mid-west.
We ought to get something going out here on the east coast. If anyone could come up with or help me out with a reasonable plan, Id really appreciate it. It would a great getaway for those of us who have to settle for a few hours of off-roading every other week.

By the way, BT17R, that sounds like a great plan. Good luck with it.
