Lift Suggestions Pls....

Hi there,

Noobie here and glad to have found this site....sooo many helpful Q&As. I have a 99 4runner 4x2 and recenlty had 15x8 wheels with 31-1050-15 Yokohama A/Ts installed. The front tires rub on the back-inside wheel well (a little) when I make a sharp Lt/Rt turn. The truck also looks lowered now since the larger tires are on. I don't take the truck offroading....just some occassional driving on dirt and over a few rocks to get to some rock climbing areas.

Now, I'm thinking about lifting it cuz of the fact that it rubs and I think it would look a lot better anyway. What type of lift do you guys suggest? I've been reading a few threads here and thinking about a Revtek 3" Suspension Kit. Will this get rid of the rubbing? Are these spacers easy to install? I have no skills when it comes to auto mechanics but can follow instructions well. My brother (who works on his cars all the time) said that he can install it no problem. Is it really that easy to install?

Any other suggestions on lifts?

Hi there, sounds like the RevTek kit will be fine for you...

As far as the install is concerned, it will require the usage of a spring compressor to disassemble the front struts and coils. Not difficult, just be careful with it.

Hope that helps!

Mike

it may still rub in that area... its a little quirk of bigger tires, even after my lift (totally differnt trucks though) my larger tires rubbed, they onyl stopped rubbing because i hammered down flat the inner fender apron and cut away some of the fender edge

Sharp left/right rubbing?
Dunno if a lift is going to solve that - it'll just make the body higher, it won't send the wheels out further.
Cornfed is good and he sells full on kits too:
