Just bought a 2000 sr5 and the antenna on it looks like a rubber magic wand aout 15 inches long (see attached). Any reasonable priced power antennas out there, don't want to think about the dealer...yikes.

How is the reception with it? I am going to go aftermarket soon and wanted a smaller antenna. Maybe a swap?

On that note, can you hook up the antenna to come up when radio is on with aftermarket too?

 

Don't know the receiption yet, I pick it up tomorrow. I just wanted to keep the chrome look with the white and I had a power antenna on my eddie bauer explorer and it worked great.

The antenna should come up when the radio is turned on, my HU sends power only when the tuner is on, not when the cd is on.

Are you running a power antenna now?

 

Yeah but that's because I still have the stock unit.
