I'm looking into towing my trans am with my 91 4runner(v6,auto).The trans am has no engine,tranny,interior in it and I'm only going about 30 miles.Do you think the truck would be able to handle that?The trans am all together weighs about 3400 lbs.

 

The 2nd gen 4Runner is rated to tow 3500 lbs...Theoretically. If you keep yours in good, keep the tranny fluid changed regularly and the U-joints greased, you should be ok. If you're going to do this regularly, you might consider putting HD springs in the back end or airbags.

 

It's just going to be a one time thing.

 

What year is your Trans Am?

I've noticed a lot of 70's Trans Ams here lately. Huge Firebird on the hood and everything. Sweet ride.

 

If its only 30 miles, you should be fine. You may want to look into a tranny cooler though.

 

It's an 86.I also have an 87.I used to have a 79,It was sweet.
