I've search on this a little with no luck. The tcase shifter on my 22re, 5 speed pops out when you apply any upward pressure on it. It's like it lost its seat seal or something. You can pull it upward and spin it all the way around without changing what mode the tcase is in. I've been debating doing a twinstick setup on it because 1) I want to learn the internals of the tcase and 2) i don't want to jump out of the truck to unlock my hubs in the mud/rain. Is now the time to do the twinstick? Or continue doing research on how to reseat the shifter?

sounds wierd... i know that with the tranny, there are plastic bushing seats the shifter fits in and they wear out over time... have you looked into that with the tcase shifter?

do the twinstick also marlin has a short throw shifter kit, you might want to look into that, it might replacew the part on yours gicving you hassle

 

I'm thinking it's time to do a twin stick. I've got the tranny/tcase out of the truck right now. I'll take a picture sometime soon to show you how awkward it is to see the shifter facing the wrong way. I can still get it in the rails to change positions, but it requires me putting a little downward force on the shifter.

 

Since you've got it out, go for the twin stick and a rebuild kit!

 

ooOOOooo, who makes a rebuild kit?!?! I'm game for that! How mush pressing might it require for bearing replacement?

The 4 cyl tcase is the gear driven version, correct? The 6 cyl is the chain driven? Just want to get my facts straight.

 

Correct, the 4cyl. case is gear driven and the V6 case is chain driven. I wish I had done the twin stick.

 

I'm at the point where I am going to do. I can get the money together, it just means putting tires off for another month or so. No wheeling until i get new tires... poor bald 30" Geolanders

 

You're gonna need access to a press to do all the work yourself. Quite a few pressed on bearings inside a t-case. Other than that, they are quite simple inside.
