Ball Joint spacer with stock rims

Anyone running the ball joint spacers with stock alum. rims? I'm about ready to put one of my sets on, but I'm concerned about the tire rubbing the tip of the Upper A-arm. I'm not excited about grinding the lip off, but if that's the only solution I might do it. I'm considering going to 1.5" wheel spacers front and rear for clearance and increasing the track width. Currently I'm running 33x10.50's on stock rims, Sway-a-ways, 1" Body lift, OME's in the rear, RS9000's all around. Looking forward to the ball joint spacers to soften up the front.

well WSU4Runner was going to run his stock rims (the "4 spoke" ones) but once we put his tires and wheels back on, it was fairly close to rubbing, this was with 32x11.5's though. i think if he had had 10.5's he wouldn't have any rubbing, even after an anlignment. for me though i had to get new wheels cause there is no question that the stock steels would rub. good luck!

If you have Dunlop Radial RV in a 31x10.50R15 on these wheels they will clear.

From what I have learned, some tires clear, some don't within the same size range of 31X10.5X15.

What brand of tires are you running?

I'm running 33x10.50 BFG AT's. Possibly to go to same size BFG MT's. Some day I'd like to get the track a little wider. Frank, you don't happen to have a pic of the Dunlops. Specifically where the UCA is close to contacting. I'm curious if I'll be ok since the 33's will have the widest section of the tire higher up/further from the hub. Either that, or it will make it worse since it might bring the section width closer to the UCA. I guess this depends upon what your picture looks like. -- Does this make sense?

Ok, Herb, let me know how it goes. I need to look again at my 92 that I have the 33x10.50's on and see if there is 1.5" of room from where the UCA sits to where it's going to sit. I keep looking at my 93 that has 31x10.50's on it and I'm not sure if the bulge of the sidewall is much lower (than the 33's) or not.

Ok, so I just did a little measuring. Looks like there is not going to be any rubbing issues. This is a guestimate and after alignment it might be a different story, but I don't think so. If I recall my front end alignment geometry correctly at this time of the day (or night, or whatever it is) then the BJ spacer will actually pull the top of the tire in and then to get proper alignment one would have to pull the LCA cams inward to compensate for the camber.

The next question would be at full droop will it rub? I guess we'll just have to see.

Hey aLostDawg, I am the one with the 31" Dunlops RVs. I am going to try and get some pictures up pretty soon... need to find someone with a Digi cam. The place that you need to worry the most about is at fully drop.

I will soon to be adding a 33x10.5 BFG MT KO. and will get some pics of those up as well. (2-3 weeks from now with new tires).

I want to use stock rims with 33x10.50s also when I get these. I'm interested to know what results you have with this combination.
