Breathers
After putting my hood under water I am concerned with anyplace where water can get in. I have extended my front and rear diff breathers, and my intake runs into my cab. I know the transfer case and transmission have breathers which should be extended, how many are there on a 3rd gen manual. Is there anything else, small emmision intakes or something that should be changed? Also after I put my hood under the water some water leaked into my airbox from the foam seal where you put the air filter in, has anybody ever changed the seal with a rubber one or found a way for it to work better?

When you go into deeper water how bad does water come into the cab and what are some of the major damages that it can cause. Will floorboard and other things rust out?

Yesterday I extended the breathers for the transmission and transfer case into the cab, hopefully they don't smell to bad. They are a pain in the arse because they are not threaded like the differentials. I also drained all of my fluids to make sure there was no water.
I haven't had water in the cab yet, but most of the deep water that I have went through has been small mud holes so it is in and out quick. I imagine that if you get water in your cab often and don't clean it out your floor boards will rust quickly, but I would imaging that if it only happens a couple of time and you clean it out it would be ok.
I think my next project will be sealing up the ECU or relocating it since it is so low.

Is there anyway to seal tha cab up? I dont have anything that could get messed up in there but i am lazy and dont want to wash it out when i go in water.
And where would the tranny and T. case breathers be on a 1st gen. I guess i should put breathers on those too. And how did you do it?

I think there is no way to completely seal the cab up. There are places that can be siliconed to slow down the incoming of water but no way to eliminate it completely. If your tranny & transfer cases are the same as mine the breathers for both were right by the shifters. If you take the shifter boot off they were on top about 3 " apart. I pried the cap off and then put my tubing over the nob sticking out and clampped it down. It was kind of a pain because the nob that you are left to work with is so small.
