First thing to check is that the slave cylinder is moving the fork when someone steps on the pedal. If it is not moving, or not moving enough, then the problem is in the hydraulic system or something like a bent fork or cracked clutch pedal bracket.
If the fork moves fine then it is something with the clutch itself, like a frozen pilot bearing or something wrong with the pressure plate. At that point you are pulling the transmission and doing a clutch job, unfortunately.

Like super nerd said above. On your 86 pickup, the only adjustment is at the clutch pedal bracket. The stroke of the clutch master and slave are as designed. If they are new and you bled the air out, they should move the full distance they are designed to move. Some people have a heck of a time getting the air out. Recheck and make sure it truly is free of air. Like super nerd said, look at the slave and see if it moves when someone steps on the clutch to make sure.
If it is completely free of air and it doesn't move enough, take a close look at your clutch pedal linkage and the bracket. They are notorious for cracking and the holes and pins wear out big time. I had to weld the holes up and re drill them to size and put in new pins on several of my old trucks. There are thin plastic bushings that wear out as well. If yours has never been touched, chances are that it needs attention. All the wear points add up and you lose travel of the linkage which means less travel for the slave and master.
If that's not your problem, it could be a throw out bearing or clutch issue. I'd think you would be hearing some serious noise in the bell housing though.
Good luck with it. Please follow up with your fix to help others in the future.
